Introduction
iktibas is a platform that lets you digitally save, organize, and share your favorite quotes while reading books. Available on both web and mobile.

Adding Quotes
There are two ways to add quotes in iktibas: by taking photos (mobile only) or uploading PDFs (web & mobile). Both methods allow you to select and edit text.
Adding Quotes with Photos (Mobile)
In the mobile app, you can add quotes by taking photos of book pages. OCR technology automatically converts photos to text.
- Tap the + button in the center of the home screen
- Take a photo of the book page with your camera
- After the photo is processed, select the text you want
- Add notes and save
💡 Works even without internet! Auto-syncs when connection is restored.
Adding Quotes with PDFs (Web & Mobile)
In both web and mobile apps, you can create quotes by uploading PDF files or adding them via URL. Read your digital books directly and add quotes.
- Add a new book from the Books tab (web and mobile)
- Upload a PDF file or enter a URL
- Open the PDF and select text with mouse or finger
- Save the selected text as a quote - syncs across all devices

Book Management
Organize your books, upload PDFs, and link your quotes to books. All features available on both web and mobile.
Adding Books (Web & Mobile)
Click the + button in the Books tab to add a new book. You can add book title, author, cover image, and PDF file. Books you add appear on all your devices.
Active Book (Web & Mobile)
Make a book active so new quotes are automatically added to that book. Click "Make Active Book" button on the book detail page. Your active book preference syncs across all devices.
Viewing Books (Web & Mobile)
On the book detail page, you can view all book information, quotes, and PDF. If there's a PDF, you can read it directly and add quotes. Same experience on web and mobile.
ReadSpace
ReadSpace is a private space where you can read books and share quotes with friends. Manage with roles and permissions.
Creating a ReadSpace
- Click "New ReadSpace" from the profile menu
- Give your readspace a name and description
- Invite friends via email
- Choose a role for each invitation (Owner, Editor, Viewer)
Roles and Permissions
Owner
Full access. Can delete readspace, manage members, and edit all content.
Admin
Full access except deleting readspace. Can manage members and edit all content.
Editor
Can add, edit, and delete books and quotes. Cannot invite members.
Viewer
View-only access. Can read quotes but cannot edit.
Sharing
Share your quotes with everyone or only with people in your readspace.
Public Sharing
Click the "Publish" button on the quote detail page to share your quote with everyone. Share the generated link on social media or anywhere you want.
ReadSpace Sharing
All quotes added in your readspace are automatically shared with other members. Everyone can view quotes and comment.
Synchronization and Cross-Platform Support
iktibas automatically syncs across all your devices. A quote added on web appears instantly in the mobile app. All features except photo capture are available on both platforms.

Use Active Book (Web & Mobile)
Make a book active so new quotes are automatically added to that book. No need to select a book every time. Your active book preference applies across all devices.
Work Offline (Mobile)
Add quotes even without internet connection. Auto-syncs when connection is restored and you get notified. You can also see your quotes on web.
Create ReadSpaces (Web & Mobile)
Create readspaces with friends to read books together. Share quotes, comment, and grow together. Same experience on web and mobile.
Upload PDFs (Web & Mobile)
Upload your digital books as PDFs to read directly in the app and add quotes. Physical and digital books in the same archive! Read on both web and mobile.
